After attending Leeds Polytechnic, Ian joined the Fire Service in 1974.The Fire Service provided excellent grounding in the development of his Health and Safety proficiency. The operational Fire Service, at all levels, consists of a series of Dynamic Risk Assessments in a variety of situations including fires, road traffic accidents and chemical spillages.

After gradually increasing his knowledge and expertise, Ian became Leading Fireman, Sub officer and Station Officer. He also gained further qualifications from the Institute of Fire Engineers. Ian has maintained a high level of technical and practical health and safety awareness through regular courses including Dynamic Management of Risk, Personal Protective Equipment Regulations, Reporting of Injuries, diseases and dangerous occurrences Regulations, Serving Disabled Customers, Manual handling, Environmental Pollution Control and Food Hygiene Certificate and Health.

Fire Safety was also a major part of his role as Fire and Rescue Service Inspecting Officer in both Hull and Scunthorpe from 1989. This included the management of risk assessments on a variety of levels including businesses, clubs and homes.

Mark Dodson. Aged 42

Mark has a wealth of experience gained from 26 years in local business as Financial Director and Company Secretary in the construction and utility surveying spheres. Being involved in both the growth of existing concerns and the purchase and start up of new ventures, his breadth of knowledge of disciplines within a variety of business types enables him to provide a wide range of solutions to many issues.

Within these roles the overview of Health and Safety requirements became more of a primary duty. To keep abreast of the EU driven changes to health and safety legislation a full working knowledge of regulations in force became an absolute requirement. This led Mark to undertake examinations by NEBOSH, gain the Certificate of Professional Competence in both National and International Road Haulage and accreditation for the Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road.

Following the training came the realisation that Health and Safety is generally a neglected area of all businesses. Having known each other for over ten years, and with both parties of a similar mind regarding the ethos of Safety the 4sight seed was sown.

Expansion of 4Sight Business Solutions Limited

As the business has developed we have have seen the demand for Fire Engines and fire related safety and supplies; this associated area is now being catered for by our subsidiary company which can provide a large range of equipment and spares, both new and used. This subsidiary holds a number of Ex- Fire Brigade Water Tenders, Airport Crash Tenders (ARFF) and a variety of other appliances for sale to the general market, both at home and overseas.
